Dr. Dan Sagir (68) is the author of Weapons of Mass Deterrence: The Secret Behind Israel’s Nuclear Power and a research fellow at the Davis Institute for International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In the past, Dr. Sagir worked as a journalist for the Haaretz newspaper and reported from South Africa in the mid-1980s about the black struggle against the Apartheid regime. Following his critical articles against apartheid, he was expelled from the country by the ruling white government in June 1986. After his return to Israel, he joined Haaretz as a full-time military correspondent. In 1990, he founded and managed 'Sagir International Translations Ltd.,' where he still works today.

Sagir holds two degrees in political science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a PhD in International Relations. His dissertation, “Israel`s Nuclear Deterrence Posture and its Effects on the Arab-Israeli Conflict Since 1967,” formed the basis for his groundbreaking book.

He is married and has four children.
