פרופ' דוד מנדס
Professor David Mendes-Nassi was born in Rome to a family of physicians. In 1939, his family immigrated to Israel, where his father and grandfather pioneered the treatment and eradication of tuberculosis.
Mendes-Nassi graduated from Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery in New York where he established a hip surgery clinic at Lenox Hill Hospital. Prof. Mendes served on the clinical staff of Yeshiva University in New York, was a member of the academic staff at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York and taught at Cornell University Hospital for Special Surgery and in Israel at the Institute of Technology in Haifa.
During the Six Day and Yom Kippur Wars he went to Israel to volunteer in the Israel Defense Forces Medical Corps and was elected to run the department of orthopedic surgery and the Center for Implant Surgery at the Bnai-Zion Medical Center in Haifa. From 1975 until his retirement in 2002 he trained a generation of orthopedic surgeons and organized and oversaw the Center for Implant Surgery's annual international conferences.
Today, he writes about various medical subjects. After publishing Trust me, I’m a Doctor, he published a trilogy about the COVID-19 pandemic, Diary of the Coronavirus Family, Waiting for the Coronavirus in the Kingdom of Pamona and Doctor Fau's Temptation.
