Orit Baruch never knew her grandmother, grandfather, or any other members of her father’s once-thriving family – not even the aunt who was her namesake. All she knew were the stories her father told her about his life and struggles before and during the war.
These stories urged her to embark on a journey through her father’s history – his Hungarian hometown, the village in Slovakia where he sought cover, the village in Ukraine where his battalion was stationed, the Carpathian Mountains he traversed on foot.
She pieced together her father’s remarkable story of survival and published it in his loving memory.
