Ilana Baum has always known that she wanted to be an author, from her early childhood in Poland after the Second World War to her lifelong work as a journalist. Her parents, both Holocaust survivors, lost their entire families during World War II.

Ilana draws inspiration from her own life and considers her literary work to be her own personal “emotional biography.”

Once We Were Sisters is her second novel.
