Diary of a Lost Boy

All Jonathan needed as a child was for someone to see him.

Jonathan was only eleven when his mother’s “guru” boyfriend moved in. Selling all their worldly possessions, the guru shaves Jonathan and his brother’s heads, rations their food, and forces them to worship him. And when the abuse became violent, there was no one there to hear the boys’ cries for help.

Jonathan is left with a choice – go to boarding school for at-risk youth or suffer at home. Though lonely and scared in his new, strange surroundings, he quickly befriends boys with similar stories to his own. Just like in his favorite movie “Hook,” he finds a strong sense of camaraderie with the Lost Boys at school. But the real change comes from his teachers and feeling for the first time that adults view him as a person worthy of being listened to.

From this revelatory experience, Jonathan discovers his passion for education and vows to become the adult he needed most as a child. From at-risk youth to high school principal, Jonathan has learned that every lost child needs an adult willing to believe in them.

Diary of a Lost Boy traces the inspiring story of how a child from a broken home can become a beacon of hope for children in adulthood. Candidly sharing his empowering insights on education and parenting, Jonathan exemplifies how giving a child a chance can make all the difference in the world.
