Better Days, Worse Days

Depression has been called “the illness of the century”. People all over the world suffer from it, and those numbers only went up during the COVID-19 outbreak. As an illness, Depression causes tremendous mental pain to the patient, and in extension to his or her supporting family members.

Better Days, Worse Days: Supporting a Depressed Partner Without Losing Your Light” shines a spotlight on the life of author Doki Cohen, living alongside her partner Ami (alias) who for many years suffers from depression.

Doki exposes readers to her daily lifestyle together with her partner, giving practical advice on how to deal with different situations out of her own personal experience. Written in plain language she honestly and courageously explores the most emotional moments of their shared past – some better and some worse – prefixed by lessons and insights to help both her and the reader to continue living their lives. Insights aimed at not only dealing with depression, but also other chronic and terminal illnesses, such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and more.

This is author Doki Cohen’s second book, following An Equally Worthy Child – a book that openly expresses her feelings of self-unworthiness she felt since childhood. Only after letting go of those feelings was Doki able to research and delve deep into those emotions. She penned her insights in her book so they might help parents accept themselves and their children without conditions.
