Planet Number Six

He thought he was unremarkable.

He thought he was powerless.

He thought his life would be boring.

He was wrong.

Raymond’s icy planet is one of humanity’s five elemental planets, held together by the President and his Inscribing ritual. By pairing two equally talented Producers (elemental makers) and Controllers (elemental shapers), the system enjoys prosperity beyond any technological advancement. Once a year, every sixteen-year-old in the system becomes Inscribed to another.

Even if they happen to exhibit no Producing or Controlling talents at all.

Even if they accept that they will forever be a disappointment to their family.

Even if they’re Ray.

With his Inscribing procedure nearing, Ray resigns himself to fading into obscurity in the shadow of his prodigal twin brother and their domineering father, who happens to be half of their planet’s ruling pair. But during the ceremony, Ray makes a discovery that shocks everyone—and most of all, himself.

His life turned upside down, Ray is sent to an academy on a planet at the epicenter of the system, surrounded by strange fellow students and even stranger teachers. The new planet holds secrets Ray cannot even imagine—secrets hidden deep within the academy and the planet that surrounds it.

The President’s planet.

Planet number six.
