Tal Tassa is a third-generation Holocaust survivor. At the age of 12, Tal’s maternal grandmother was separated from her parents at the beginning of the Second World War. When Tal began researching her family history, she discovered that  tragedies long preceded her grandmother’s journey. Indeed, her great-grandmother lost her entire family when her hometown of Kalisz, Poland, was shelled by the Germans at the onset of the First World War. These events inspired Tal to write her family’s story.
